Every written language has its own distinctive characteristics. Alphabets are the foundation of any written language and every language has its own unique alphabets. Unlike words in the English language, Malayalam words are pronounced exactly as they are written. So, you will never feel confused while pronouncing the word
Malayalam is one of the toughest languages in India or even in the world. There are so many tongue twister words in the Malayalam language that are even spoken in casual talking. So for foreigners or a non-Malayalee, it is a bit difficult to pronounce some of the words.
Here I am going to introduce you to the Malayalam aksharamala or alphabet.
There are fifteen vowels and thirty-seven consonants in the Malayalam language. The Malayalam alphabet table is shown below.Vowels

Consonants
Consonants are classified into eight according to the way it's pronounced. they are
- Guttural (Kavarga aksharangal) it includes the alphabets from 'Ka' to 'Nga' in horizontal
- Palatals (Chavaga aksharangal) it consists of 'Ca' to 'Nja'
- Cerebrals (Davarga aksharangal) it includes 'D' to 'Na'
- Dentals (Thavarga aksharangal) it starts from 'T' to Nah'
- Labials (Pavarga aksharangal) it consists of alphabets from 'p' to 'Ma'
- Semi vowels (Ardha swarangal) it includes 'Ya' to 'Va'
- Sibilants it includes 'Sa' 'Sha' and 'Sah'
- Aspirate it consists of 'Ha'
